For the 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests, Senior Research Fellow Rowena He shared her reflections with Harvard’s Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. The piece includes her recollections of Spring 1989 and the lasting impact it’s had on her. “We took to the streets not because of hatred and despair, but because of love and hope” she says. He was student during the demonstrations and continues to carry on the legacy through her teaching and writing. You can read her full reflection here.
Professor He was also profiled by the Associated Press and the Wall Street Journal.
