Robert Oppenheim

Robert Oppenheim is the POSCO Chair in Korean Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of An Asian Frontier: American Anthropology and Korea, 1882-1945 (University of Nebraska Press, 2016) and Kyŏngju Things: Assembling Place (University of Michigan Press, 2008), and has other research interests that include Nepal-Korea labor migration and student humanitarianism concerning North Korea. Oppenheim is a co-editor of the University of Nebraska Press Critical Studies in the History of Anthropology book series and, since 2021, a co-editor of the journal Modern Asian Studies.
